Mixtape Madness
John and I first started messaging each other on Tumblr because we dug each other’s taste in music. After weeks of discussing song after song in a shameless celebration of geekery, I think it was John who suggested that we should send each other mix tapes through the mail (I live in Boston, he lives in DC). Themes were chosen. Glittery dinosaur stickers were purchased.
I finally got John’s mix tape in the mail yesterday and it was so much fun getting something delivered to me that wasn’t a bill from Sallie Mae. There was tons of NPR schwag plus some mashups I had never heard before with Nicki and MJ. A single tear may have rolled down my cheek at one point.
We have dubbed this exchange as Mixtape Madness, and it’s going to be a pretty regular thing. I know other Tumblr peeps have done similar things, but I’m just going to cling to the belief that we are coming original with this. Do you want to be a part of the next one? Plus I may have blacked out in Walmart and bought way too many dinosaur stickers, so help me get rid of them.
