I know the exact moment when I realized that Sara was going to become one of my best friends. It was Halloween last year, and we were hanging out with some friends who I had met through my most recent ex. Of course he was there too, and to no one’s surprise, he and I got into a not-so-nice conversation. After a few minutes of bickering, Sara overheard a particularly nasty comment come out of his mouth. Without hesitation, she leaned across the table, yelled “HEY! YOU BE NICE TO HER!” and snapped in his face.
Sara and I had only known each other for a few days, and there she was, ready to go to war for me. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
So you can imagine how difficult it was to help her pack up her car this morning before she made the long move back to Nashville. I’m sad that she’s not going to be in the room right over from me anymore, but I’m happy that she’s doing what she needs to do. And no matter what, I know I’ll see her again soon. It still amazes me that there are people in this world that you can have 100% trust in, and for me, that’s Sara.
